Commissioning a Portrait
If you would like to commission a portrait, here's a bit about my process:

Because of studio and travel constraints, I generally work from photos. Where possible, I like to take photos of the subject myself, in a variety of poses and lighting. However, if that is not practical or if you have an existing photo you prefer, I will be glad to work from that, provided it is of sufficient size and clarity.

First, reach out through email or the contact form on this page and let me know what you are interested in, including the subject, general size of the finished piece (see size and price chart below), and medium (oil, pastel, or pencil). Also let me know if you have a time constraint or if the portrait is for a special occasion. Be sure to provide your contact information.

Next, we will discuss your request and the process in more detail via phone and/or email, including the best option for getting one (or more) photos of the subject.

Once we have agreed on a photo of the subject, the size, medium, timeline, and price, I will provide a commission agreement for your signature. One half of the total cost will be due up front as a non-refundable deposit. The other half will be due upon receipt and approval of the finished portrait.

Portrait pricing for my standard sizes is below. If you are interested in a different size, please let me know and I will provide pricing.
